His name is Skip.
Skip Madsen holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Montana - his home state. He owned and operated a business there until moving to Colorado. It was Colorado that truly inspired Skip to begin his brewing adventure and skilled craft. He later moved to Seattle,Washington in 1995, to help a young brewery get its start. He now brews in Edmonds, Washington and reclines nearby at his home in Port Townsend.
Skip is the father of more than 200 beers.
Skip Madsen has been brewing beers since 1992. He crafted his first beers at HC Beger Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado. Upon moving to Seattle, his beers gained recognition and awards at Pike Brewing Company and Big Time Brewery. He moved an hour north to Bellingham's Boundary Bay Brewing Company where he specialized in award winning ales and lagers. After six years, he moved to Port Townsend, WA and became part-owner and brew master for Waterstreet Brewing and Ale House creating even more award-winning and acclaimed brews. Today, he crafts world class beers like the increasingly popular Breakaway IPA and several all-new styles for the American Brewing Company.
He believes there is a beer for everybody.
His passion for creating the best beer for the right person got its roots during his time serving as a bartender in a 20 tap ale house in Colorado. He always loved watching people get enjoyment from drinking their beer. As a bartender, he got to be involved in the matching process of palate to brew. As the brewer, he creates the character of the beer with the preferences of the people in mind. He savors the variety and excites at the challenge of crafting a beer even non-beer drinkers will favor.
He stops at nothing to produce the highest quality "World Class Beer".
Skip will throw out a beer if it does not meet his ultimate standards. He will stay up night after night nurturing his latest masterpiece to perfection. For Skip, the beer that crosses your lips must be more than great - it will be world-class.
Thirty distinct awards hang in his office.
Including... 10 Gold Medals, 12 Silver Medals, 1 People's Choice Medal and 7 Bronze Medals from major beer festivals.
Skip's beer is unique and full of character.
Skip finds consistent "to-the-recipe" brews boring. He strives to maintain the expectation of taste for the consumer, but allows the temperament of the ingredients to naturally react and creates flavor anew with each brew.
